I found when replacing axles that using a big rubber hammer to pop out the upper control arms worked pretty well. I also found that if I did the rear one first, it came out easier than if I took out the front one and then struggled with the added pressure on the rear one.

I had to put pressure on the strut assembly in different directions until I found which relieved the pressure on the control arm the most to allow both removal/reinstallation. So I was pushing with one arm, using the rubber hammer with the other.
Worked a lot better when installing to put the rear back in first too. I used lots of antiseize on both the joint and the pinch bolt.
Gotta go do this again soon to replace the airbags.

got the old assembly out this morning, only to find that the bolts are not torx bolts like i have been reading. napa down the street actually has some triple square bits in stock, gonna go there after work. hopefully i can finish this up today and this job wont go into the third day.
