Default Creaking-interior. Driving me mad...

Hoping someone can help. The pillar on the drivers where the seat belt comes from. It creaks on every bump, every turn and just about anytime the car is moving... Driving me CRAZY.

The only way I've been able to stop it is by pressing my elbow into it fairly hard.

Anyone know of a fix?

Thanks

Is it coming from the pillar or the door seals? I need to lube my door seals with either silicon spray or Armor All or they will creak on groan with body flex. If from pillar then you may have to take it apart and look for a loose or rubbing part.

From the pillar. The area where the seatbelt. Ones out. It's not just the plastic in the mechanism rubbing. It's like the whole piece of trim. I'm not sure what is connected to what and the airbags scare me

Well, I think I have this fixed. Posting incase anyone else runs into this. I carefully pried the trim that surrounds the seatbelt area from the bottom. Pulled the corner out that is closest to the drivers door. Just wiggled it around slightly and then pretty forcibly smacked the piece back in. Seems to have solved the issue. I know it sounds petty, but it was TORTURE. It creaked when you hit the gas, brake, turned, bumps.... ahhhhhhh....

only time my ar creaks is when its cold

This wasn't being picky. It was insane. Constant.

My 02 BMW was tighter overall. But live the Audi.

My allroad has plenty of minor creaks and rattles, too many to try and fix each one. My friend's C5 S6 is like this too, I assumed all 10+ year old Audis had this problem. I adjusted my door latches to make them tighter, and that helped a little bit but the rear cargo area seems to be the source of many noises.

FWIW, I test drove a 2010 328i wagon with 95k miles (my '04 allroad has 97k) and it was totally solid, no creaks or rattles. I also drove an e39 M5 and that was solid as well.

I had the same problem about a year ago after the car came back from the body shop. Creeks that drive you crazy. I found the problem in the same area. They broke the plastics (yes pural) and did not replace all screws. Some GOOP glue get the job done. Now it is more slient than when it came from the factory. Body shop remove panels for no apparent reason.
