Default Rear spring part number

Snapped the last inch off one of my back springs. Dealer wants my VIN#, and $153. Rock Auto has them for $39 and says they fit all B5's.

Is there any magic to getting the right spring for my 99.5 A4 Q 2.8?

Only difference would be if the car was quatto or FDW

Other then that they should all be the same.

Hope this helps.

Jason,

I checked at your site, don't see them at all. Is that right?

Somethings can only be found if you have the part number.

No worries though they we have them below.

Rockauto seems like a good deal until you see the shipping. They come from the U.K. and is $$$ to ship. They are aftermarket instead of OEM.

Genuinevwaudiparts or Audiusaparts has OEM for about $95 + shipping.

My A4 rear spring just did the same thing a few weeks ago. No ride height change, but noisy when going over bumps. I'm going the Audiusaparts route.

i know springs use a color system code, look at yours for a small dot greeon or red or whatever. Also engine has a factor, putting wrong spring will cause the ride height to differ.

Best way to be sure is by VIN.

Found that out when I went to buy there. Ended up buying at GermanAutoParts.com.

I'm not sure I care that much on that part. My thought was that I have a factory part on there that's missing an inch of spring......and the only thing I notice different is the noise. Are there other reasons to care about factory parts there?
