Trying to find the magical latch everyone speaks of so I can wrap some tape around it. Thanks in advance.

I was also looking for a photo of the latch but couldn't find one. Today I stayed home home and decided to try to get rid of my squeaky friend. I'm not sure if this is the correct place to put the tape but others here can comment on whether this is correct or not.

that's it.

For those who don't can't figure it out from the picture it is actually on the passenger side of the drivers side rear seat. You need to fold down the center section to get to it though (by the release button next to the center headrest), if you fold the combined driver side/center section by the release down by the door you won't see it.

(and by the way I did it today with teflon tape and it did the trick).

Like Teflon thread tape?
Are we talking just a few wraps or just burying that stud with tape?
Mine is driving me insane

I used black electrical tape so it matches and you can't even tell it's there. Just wrap it around tightly until the whole pin is covered with a single wrap.

I've noticed that it makes the centre section a little harder to latch/unlatch, but this is a sacrifice I'm willing to make for the peace and quiet!

Gotta love the easy fixes!

yep, just went 4 or 5 times around. Probably less permanent then electrical tape if you lower the middle portion alot but it's what I had and it works just fine.

Word is that Audi is redesigning the latch which may take a while!

I can't wait to get home to fix this... thank you so much.

I have been going insane with this noise. Only way I could get it to stop was by folding down the rear seat behind the driver.

When I dropped my Q5 off for first 5k service, I mentioned the "squeak" and they supposedly fixed it by tightening a bolt.

I had the issue in my first Q5 and they were able to fix it. They replaced the back seat and the issue never returned. I now have the issue in my second Q5 but have not taken it in yet for that, mainly because everything at Rusnak Audi is a huge process and takes days and days for them to get anything done, if they do it at all. I just couldn't be bothered with them anymore.

So thanks for this thread, this may be the prefect fix without having to leave my car with them again.
