so my car is in storage untill i get my licence back so when i was home decided to put a battery in it and start it up to circulate a little oil and whatever. its been sitting for 6 months. hook it up to a battery starts fine the first try, idles perfect. with the hood up, i pull the 3 covers off and hear a hissing at the back of the engine. ive heard it faintly befor when i was driving but never looked into it cuz i dont have a garage at my apt in philly. so feel around and find a vacuum leak in a small hose under the check valve (ill try to post a pic) its sucking air pretty hard, and all i do is cover the leak with my finger and instantly the car begins to idle very rough and in a pattern like blub-blub-bluuuub- so on. i dont have vag com yet, no cel.
i figure over time, starting with a small leak, the computer would compensate? then slowly the leak grows, computer further compensating. but when i plug the hole and sharply fix the leak the computer doesnt know how to handle it right away???
tried to locate the hose in my bentley vacuum diagram but cant quite see it. and i plan to get a vag com when i save a few more pennies.
the car ran for a total of 5 minutes. other things i noticed with the covers off, the line that runs between the DVs was cut/blown. and a little oil residue on the pipes leading to the TBB. im guessing from a pressure leak there.

Fastest way is to manage attachments and attach. Otherwise, you have to right click on the actual picture in facebook and then goto properties, then copy that url.

Then due the whole [IMG*]BITCHES[/IMG*] * stars added for good measure.

Sounds reasonable. The vacuum leak would cause the engine to run lean. So the computer would compensate by adding more fuel. You plug the leak, and now your running rich. But when fixed mine last month it didn't make it run rough. And I had some sort of a leak for a year.

How loose is yours? I think I have a leak too somewhere and mine is pretty loose where it goes into the alu thing.

im guessing you are talking about the tbb? its not loose, although i didnt investigate that piece too much. i just paln on replacing it.

EXCELLENT!...Those photos confirmed what I suspected about that short cloth covered hose on my allroad 2.7T. Now I've just gotta get some hose and small clamps.

I also have a degraded hose that in your picture looks OK...I'm referring to the hose that connects to the fuel pressure regulator (part number "xxx 133 681 AR" in your second picture). The vacuum hose makes a sharp bend where it connects to the fuel pressure regulator. The other end of the hose curves toward the right side of the car and connects to a location at the back of the manifold. At the sharp bend near the fuel pressure regulator I suspect there is a small leak.
