Default This might help.

Champion racing used the stock RS6 Brembo's (same as on RS4) for their first race of the 03 SPEED World Challenge GT season and the brakes had pretty bad problems with overheating. Champion then switched to an Alcon 6 piston set up for the rest of the season.

The stock brakes are fine for most who will use them on the street but they do have some weaknesses when pushed hard. The pistons are fairly small, pad area is 30% smaller then the Alcon 6 piston and the veining in the rotors is not ideal. These combinations can cause the brakes to fade when pushed hard. Also the Alcon system is lighter then the RS Brembo system.

Like I said, they are fine for most people but do have some weaknesses.

Default IIRC you cannot just swap to ceramics. Many other components need to be changed because of the...

High heat generated by the ceramic brakes. Some of these include the type of grease used in the hubs, the ABS sensors and their harness ect...

Default But not as light as ceramics right? How much weight savings is there for the Alcons?

I am seriously considering importing the ceramics just for weight savings and handling improvements, street use only, no track.

Default in other words, if you're not driving a competition car, you don't need them.

I don't recall reading one single account of brake fade in the B7 RS4, do you? The Barcelona track event...SOT events...etc....I don't remember reading anything about brake fade. I think the people who buy a brake kit for the RS4 either: a) have mod-itis, or b) have more money than sense.

Default so are you going to post a thread for every RS4 you work on?

I know you're an advertiser, and I might actually want to buy something from you, but this is bull****.
