Default B6 Front bumper ?

I have heard that on the B5 if you were in a front end collision and the absorbers needed replaced you have to replace the whole front bumper. Can anyone tell me if this is the same with the B6???

Default When I had my accident, I had to fight to get the front bumper cover replaced

Originally the Allstate drive in claims adjuster wouls only allow for cosmetic repair of the bumper cover . Upon closer inspection by the body shop it was aparent that the shock absorbers behind the bumper were shot plus other damage. The insurance co sent another adjuster and told me that the first adjuster didn't know what he was doing that in almost every case of significant front end damage, the bumper and bumper cover need repalcemant.I remember something about a support inside the bumper that is somehow fused and once it is bent, needs replacement it. It can't be repaired. I was going to call my brother in law for more acurate details but he is away for the week end. He did the repair on my car.

Default What a coincidence...the guy at fault has Allstate and I too am going to see the

drive-in adjuster. Thanks for your information. I would like to make this as painfree as possible. In the past I have never had much luck with this type of service. But the more information I have the better I am! Thanks a lot Dr GP. Your a doll!

Default Word of advice. Get a estimate from the body shop that will do the work before you go to Allstate

From a purely male chauvanistic view, the adjuster will think that because you are female that you will not know ANYTHING about cars and especially about repairing them. These adjusters try to low ball the estimate. Then, when the body shop finds additional issues, they have to wait to get further authorization. ALSO you can go anywhere you want to have the car repaired. If you are insured by Allstate, they try to steer you to an affiliated body shop that ususally is not a high quality shop. Don't fall for that.
