the passenger outboard dash vent does not puts out air that is not heated. I would think that's a blend door type issue. Will a blend door failure show up on the VAG COM ?

Yes, I would say either what you are mentioning, or the basic heater panel water valve(s). Remember there are two separately switched ones for the two sides, I believe in one overall module under the plenum cover.

I'm noticing on mine that even though I set the same temp on both sides, I'm feeling differences among the vents from left to right. I ran the diagnostics on mine but didn't find/hear anything obvious or that didn't switch as designed. I'm suspecting that (very, very expensive) valve on mine. I may pull it out and try to clean/check it passage wise when I do a coolant drain and change.
