front end squeaks?
Gents,
My 01 S8 is making some squeaking noise when I go over bumps and even when I push down on the front fender. Bought it not too long ago (about 2 months) and had my buddy inspect it at his shop. Said front end is super tight and that the front arms were all replaced.
Is this normal for these cars? Are there lubrication points where I can pump some grease into them?
Havent really climbed underneath it yet to look. Just wanted to get your opinion on the matter.
Thanks,
Chris

If the front end was replaced as stated, it should be pretty obvious - turn a wheel to full lock, or pull a wheel off and take a look - new control arms will look new.
If a kit was used, the sway bar links should be new too.
WD40 still worth a shot though.
Only other thing I'm thinking is shock absorbers/dampers...
To answer your question though - squeaks from the front end aren't normal. Particularly on this calibre of car!

I will check the sway bar bushings and links. Have seen people have issues with noises from there.
Twenty,
When I got my tires replaced, both me and my buddy looked at the control arms and they look new. Not corroded or oxidized at all.
I will take a better look focusing on the rubber joints. Nothing a little prying with a pry bar wont seek out. :-)
I am not sure if the shocks have ever been replaced. It rides smooth with not steering wheel pulsing/shaking. Car is super stiff when you push on fender. No excessive bounce back at all.
Will keep you all posted.
Thanks gents!

hmmmm...maybe strut mount bushings?...the big rubber thingie at the top of the strut with the bearing insert. Maybe a spray from above with lubricant to see if that quiets things down temporarily?
