Default 5W40, 10W40, or 5W30 Motor Oil For South Florida?

Hi, just wanted to know what motor oil (Castrol Syntec/Edge) I should use in South Florida for a 3.2L Q5?
5W40, 10W40, or 5W30?
Thanks!

I think the manual will have the correct recommendation for your local conditions. Just sayin'.

Yes. Think about it. The engine is thermostatically controlled. It isn't going to run any hotter in Florida than Minnesota. Just get the factory oil recommendation and don't try to out-think the factory engineers.

Thanks Reggie. That's what the manual also recommends...

Default Past history confusion

Virtually every car I've owned has had a span of recommended oils based on temperature. Not my Q5 - apparently any VWOA recommended oil will do. Strange.

BTW, 5W-40 Mobil 1 is NOT on the list, but 0W-40 Mobil 1 is.

Bottom line: Read the back of the bottle and ensure that it says VW502.00. You're good to go.
