New to Audi, advise needed
Hey everyone
So I am the owner right now of a Volvo S60R and looking to switch over and get a wagon....
I saw online an 2009 A6 Avant with the 3.0L supercharged... it had 80.000 miles on it.
Could you help me a little, what issues should I look fore, and what maintenance should I plan fore and also any cost included would be great.
I am trying to see what cost I should plan for in the future of this car from the 80k until 110k.... I know there is no absolute.. but just some ideas from you all would be great.

'09 was the first year of the 3.0L supercharged V6 engine in the C6 platform. One known issue for that engine and year is the water pump failing. Check to see if it was replaced.

I am told the water pump campaign is still open and will stay open-- and any Audi dealer can tell you if the work was done.
My single piece of advice on ANY used Audi: how was it maintained? If you cannot verify basic routine maintenance on a 80K car, walk away.
Part two: IMHO anyone is crazy to buy an Audi out of warranty WITHOUT a pre purchase inspection from an Audi familiar mechanic that knows what the hell he is doing.

Not sure that really helps the person who has already purchased a used Audi.
I like to start with a fresh baseline whenever I purchase a previously owned vehicle. After the initial inspections and purchase, I usually start by replacing all fluids, lubricating and going to work on replacing or repairing the obvious items.
Then again, I don't usually purchase a vehicle without first having done weeks or months of research on forums etc., so as to have a pretty good idea as to the "gotcha's" with a particular model or date range.
Good luck to you.

Not sure you read the op's post. he has NOT purchased yet. He was asking for advice before purchase.

No worries Crosbo. And I agree about draining, refilling on a used car purchase. Don't know if I would call it a baseline but simply me not trusting what was allegedly done before.
But I still look heavily at the prior service records and care, OR their absence. Just bought a 2011 A6 avant. Of the two finalists, one had full Audi service records from mile 16 on. The other had only a few oil change receipts. It was an easy choice.

I recall the Volvo that we purchased for our younger daughter while she was in college. It came with two folders worth of documentation. Nice car, pretty good shape with the exception being a couple of cosmetic issues. Price was right, she loved the Volvo's and so we purchased. After reviewing all the documentation of everything that had been repaired/replaced under warranty, it was almost frightening...the amount of warranty work done due to failing parts.
The car worked well for her thru college and road trips to Arizona and Montana, but I'm still amazed at the number of items that "failed" on the vehicle.
