Cluster problem: fuel gaue showing empty
Hi. I messed my cluster up after playing with it with some chinese software and it ended up in def mode. So, I had to download some files from a different cluster, which was from the same exact car that I have, and upload to my cluster using VCDS. Everything went back to normal except the fuel gauge that is showing empty. I have tried taking fuses off, disconecting the battery, but it did not help. Anybody has any ideas??? Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Can you elaborate what exactly you are doing and how. I never heard that VCDS is able to upload any files. I am interested in this because I am in a process of swapping my cluster (mph) with the metric one (km/h).

I had someone else do it for me, all I know is that he downloaded eeprom from the other cluster and uploaded it to mine. Now, everything works except the fuel gauge. Would you be able to copy codings for fuel gauge from your car and post them here? I would really apreciate it!

Yes. Never use knockoff software on these vehicles. Search the forums for much worse horror stories.
Some have completely lost the MMI control system requiring a new module which can only be coded by a dealer. About a $2k mistake. I am one cheap guy and try to do everything myself. That said some stuff has to be paid for with the proper parts & supplies.
In your case the fastest thing to do is take the car to a dealer.
Cheapest thing is use the trip odometer and MMi distance to empty display as a fuel gauge. Also, you may find that the low fuel warning is triggered independent from the fuel gauge.

Also never "fiddle" with settings in VCDS unless you are willing to replace bricked components or spend a lot of time/money at dealership.
Excellent coding resource: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index...udi_A8/S8_(4E)
