Sounds like everyone is getting different mpg.

Is everyone using 91 or better octane gas?

Yep! Only premium grade and top-tier goes into my tank. Conoco-Phillips usually because it is mostly available in rural Colorado, and Chevron when I get farther west.

Maybe, but that's not why I buy them. Major brand gas has better additives, better detergents, better QC of the gas, so less chance of buying an inferior product that could cause problems. Given a choice I'd buy the top-tier gas that gave the best mileage, but I have limited ability to shop and test here.

93 every time, Exxon most times...averaging about 20.5 mpg after 7000 miles.

91 all the time...
i think the mpg of my 2013 q5 2.0t is decent...

since the torque comes in at 1500 rpm, i don't expect city driving to be as gas efficient, no matter how light foot i am on the pedal, it always goes above 1500 rpm when the car moves forward...

given the car displacement and its power/torque, the car itself can be considered gas efficient by my standard...even though i wish in city stop and go driving, it could perform a bit better than 21mpg...

Default MPG 3.0T agree

But I have not done any rush hour, stop-and-go driving on these tanks. For shorter segments it does really well. Check the screen shot below for the 140 mile all-highway run recently.
I say no BS either, we just got our 2013 3.0T and are seeing very similar numbers. I must say I am very happy. I was wondering if we should of waited the extra couple of months and got the TDI but no regrets so far.

Makes me wonder if some of the other factors could be ADS or 20" wheel vs 19" wheel. I'm sure even the tires themselves contribute to the performance.

My Q5 has the 20" S-Line wheel and I usually drive with the engine/trans on Auto using ADS. Sometimes I will put ADS in comfort, but I haven't noticed that it makes a difference in mileage. I need to watch that more carefully.

I would like to know how this compares to other 3.0T owners.

Default 26 average

3.0T and we are averaging 26mpg. On highway drives, we can get 29 mpg.

Seems pretty decent, considering my old A4 wagon, with a NA 6 cyl maxes at 26mpg, and has a fraction of the power and size of the Q5.
I'm actually pretty pleased with this aspect of the car.
