96 A4, I believe the car used an analog phone?.?

Motorola I830 hardwire capable?

There are some work arounds to get certain audio functions...

but it's really better to use the Motorola car kit. In any scenario you will not get steering wheel controls to work. Upgrade your phone to the i870 and then install a voice activated Bluetooth like the IHF1000. Ping me via email and I can help you out.
