NEW A8L V.745Li

Re: NEW A8L V.745Li
I had 2 745i's that were the worst garage queens imaginable. I have had the a8l since July with no break-downs,metric dash conversions, girraffing headrests, key rejections, trunk close failures, blanked out nav systems, hesitations in
tranny,stalling, or software updates.
Save a few annoyances (poor pcs integration)(air cond fogs up windshield on humid days) and (inaccurate themometer and speedo), the car has performed beyond belief. The comfort of the seats, handling of the vehicle are much better than the 745.
I wholeheartedly reccommend this car!

You should read the last few pages of posts to get a general sense of the A8L. Generally speaking, some of the eearlier launch vehicles experienced the "growing pains" of a first year vehicle to which many of the problems were taken care of. The cars manufactured after this time period, for the most part, would make you proud to be coming OUT of a BMW and INTO and Audi! There are some phone integration issues with the MMI but some of these may be taken care of with a possible software upgrade. IMHO, it is a wonderful car to experience. I cancelled a Benz AND NEVER LOOKED BACK!

The story with the headrests was that anytime one would move their seat back, even a half inch, the headrests would automatically shoot up to the highest position, as if a giraffe was sitting in the seat! This was fixed early on, with one of the multiple software updates!

Driven my partners 745Li and you are without a doubt making the correct switch.
The only 2 things I'm annoyed about are the poor integration of the phone w/ the MMI and the rear headrest can't come out or be lowered to give you a clear sight line out the back window.
Otherwise, I've had 3,500 very enjoyable miles.

I have over 4000 miles on my A8L and have been thrilled with the driving experience. It has exceptional road handling capabilities. I live in the upper midwest and am looking forward to seeing how it handles on ice and snow. I anticipate that it will handily beat anything else I have ever driven in these conditions, including our SUV. I have had no mechanical, electrical or other problems.
My only issues are the poor phone integration and the inaccurate speedometer/odometer. Hopefully, Audi will address these issues and complete the circle on an otherwise extraordinary machine.

RELIEF!
Just got out of my "colleratal exchange" with 25K. What a relief to be in a car that actually works! The only problem is the intergrated phone which is better in BMW. Interesting side note: I went back to the Audi dealer twice in a week- the apologized where BMW looks for you on a weekly basis! Enjoy!
