In post #9, the graphic does not open on my Mac. (I know this is an old post, but this just happened to my 2004 Audi A4). Without the graphic/picture, I do not know what bolt to loosen to move the wipers back to "home" position. Thanks for your help.

If your talking about just moving the wiper arm itself there's a nut at the bottom of each wiper arm, under the cap, that needs to be loosened.

Default Wipers upright

Sorry, wasn't referring to wiper arm nut, but the nut that I should loosen so that I can move both wiper arms, and the linkage, back to "home" position so the wipers are not upright at rest.

I've attached the workshop procedure from ElsaWin (in PDF format) for the Windshield Wiper systems on a A4.

There is a mounting point for the motor that the wiper arm linkage attaches to. You adjust the wiper arm position by adjusting that mount point.

You will need to remove the nut holding the wiper linkage to the motor. Then pop the linkage arms up off the mounting point. Rotate that mount point to the correct position then re-attach the linkage arms an nut.

You could conceivably just pop the arms off and place them back on in the right position but if that lever used at the motor is off then the wipers will always be off.

There are some pretty good write-ups from days gone past on this board and over on Audiworld.com showing how it's done with pics. Maybe the pics are no longer there. See if you can use google maybe for that site and grab a cached version.
