Intermittent taillight failure on 2011--same issue as '06?
I did a quick search, but it's almost 1 am so that may be why I was unsuccessful. Anyway . . .
I had an intermittent issue with the taillights on my '06 (ground issue). I eventually replaced both.
NOW I am having intermittent loss of brake/turn signal on my 2011. Both the right and left started acting up within 2 weeks of each other. What is up with that? Very frustrating. It isn't quite a constant failure yet.
I haven't had time to pull it out yet (4 kids 5 and under will do that), but are the newer ('09+) taillights prone to the same problem as the older ones (my replacements on my '06 were an updated PN with a better design/connection inside)? If so, that's ridiculous.
Any advice on these (other than let the dealership charge me a small fortune)? I guess I need to just dig in there and check it out--not that I will necessarily be savvy enough to fix it though.
Why am I still up?
The last question is rhetorical.

Any input from someone who has had this issue on an '09+? I have basically no "electrical" experience, but maybe I could pull off something like catamount90's solution for his C6 (though that was the older style taillight).

In case this would happen to help someone else down the road . . .
I removed the left taillight and took it apart. It's a little different than my '06 was. I don't remember a circuit board inside the '06 taillight either (over-engineering?). Everything looked in order except for a LITTLE bit of build-up/corrosion on the leads/contacts on the back of the unit. I cleaned them with rubbing alcohol and a Q-tip and then applied dielectric grease. We'll see if it does any good. If it works then I will obviously do the same thing to the other taillight.
Here's to hoping!

So far so good. While the right one has given me one error message since, the left has been fine! Looks like I'll be doing the same cleaning process to the right one now (he says to himself, unsure if anyone else reads the thread).
