2014 Q5 Order Tracking Thread

Thanks "Mark P" for the graph. Minus the tow hitch, that's basically the spreadsheet I've been looking at myself. I'm trying not to make a BIG commotion about this and I'm waiting for this to be the official pricing because the price difference was MUCH LESS than what I had expected.
When I was trying to estimate this difference in pricing I started comparing A4/S4 and A6/S6. Their differences were much more significant, which I was worried it would be closer to a $10-15k difference, which would have been too much for me. However in those instances, you were getting an entirely different engine from 2.0T to 3.0T or 3.0T to 4.0T. There was no other model where the engine size did not change, so there was no real comparable comparison.
At quick glance, there's a $7500 price difference between the 3.0T and SQ5, which is significant. But for those who were already getting the S-Line package (that takes away $3500 of that difference), it makes it VERY TEMPTING at $4000 more. I'm getting the Estoril Blue color, so my difference will be $4575. On top of this, at the time, we were considering paying the Exclusive Paint price to get the Estoril Blue, which would have bumped up our price at least another $2500. So to say I'm happy with the news yesterday is an understatement. The wife will be happy to get the color she wanted and I'll be happy to get the model I wanted. Now I'll stay quiet and wait for this price to be official.

He's doing $1075 crystal minus $500 metallic/pearl, for $575 additional paint cost. Crystal is probably more expensive now, as well, though, so it's hard to say exactly.

Yup "idale" got it right on all fronts. Before pricing came out on the SQ5, I noticed on the latest order guide that Exclusive colors were not going to be available for the Q5 on top of that the price went up to $3900, which is CRAZY. So even if it was available, I'm not sure we would have paid nearly $4000 for the color. The Estoril Blue Crystal Effect is a somewhat unique color for S models. It comes at a slightly premium price of $1075 (last year's price, so far no price listing for 2014) as opposed to the normal $500 ($475 last year) for other colors.

7Y1 and ATH doesn't jive (should be 5TH with the side assist), but I'll assume the parts to be used will be correct. I guess this is confirmation you're getting your side assist, congrats.

Thanks for noticing that, iDale......I just fired off a note to my General Manager at the dealership. He's been absolutely rock-solid helpful on this order. I'm positive we'll get things jibing.
The good news is that the S-Line + package is there.

I wouldn't expect anything is happening at this point, especially with PQX and 7Y1. But yeah early Sept seemed to be the tentative dates for these cars TDI/PQX that are more than a month away from being started

So, what's the next step I should look for from Audi on this order?

Well, there's a bucket of cold water splashed on my old bones! You guys seem to have a handle on this....I sure don't. At least Audi hasn't rejected anything.....yet. I went in to talk to the "specialist" and he was home with strep throat or something. So, the GM stepped up and checked. I was checking to see if they had any notes on delaying the order due to the "unavailable" items....and hoping that they were going to build mine with the allegedly few parts they had available in the S-Line+ bin. At least the order is in, not rejected as it stands.
So, what's the next step I should look for from Audi on this order?

"Released to Production" is the next milestone I believe which is when within the manufacturing domain, it's moved to the stage of able to be produced. It won't get that far if there's a backorder on parts, for example. At the moment it is "Released to Production", that merely means a piece of (virtual) paper is handed over which could begin the build process - at that moment, there is no physical vehicle.
When it gets a VIN assigned, you're in good shape then. I don't know if it's before or while the vehicle is being built, but it's a good milestone.
Some time in there (maybe when Release to Production), other dates should show up in the dealer system as well giving ETAs of the various steps. While they may not be accurate, it's certainly a good indicator of what's to come.
