Cylinder #2 Misfire (PO302)
Hey guys i just found your forum and it looks full of useful information. I did some searching and did not quite get the results i was hoping for.
I have a 98 A4 1.8T. I got home from work the other day and when i pulled the car in the garage it started idling rough. The check engine light came on so i hooked up the code reader. It gave me a "PO302" cylinder #2 misfire. The car still starts up, but runs very rough. Not only at idle, but also when bringing the RPM's up. I looked over all the wires going into the coils and they look fine with no rips or exposed wires. I pulled the plugs and installed 4 new NGK's. Started the car and nothing. Throwing the same code.
I then pulled the coil packs off and swapped them ( I believe #1 with #2) Started it up and it was still throwing the #2 misfire (which should mean that the coil is good). I am not too sure where to go from here. I was not sure if maybe i should look for something else. I can try new Coil packs i guess, but the swap test sort of rulled out that they are ok. Any ideas please feel free to input i would really appreciate it. Have to drive the truck (8mpg) until the car gets fixed. Thanks, Marc

I am going to test it tonight when i get home from work to double check. I was looking through some old posts and "ArandA4" put up a great DIY test procedure i am going to give a try.
It looks as if the one for sale for $75 has a sale pending already. I wish i would have seen it a little sooner, but oh well. If it tests out bad (which i really hope) i will post up a part number. Any idea on what cost price is audi01A6?
Thanks for all the help, Marc

I just went through this issue a month ago. It was the ICM like people are saying even though I did the DIY test and didn't get conclusive results. I think mine was only partially failing because it was relatively intermittent. Get the Huco replacement part instead of the Bosch. I got mine from http://getcoolparts.com/, but quite a few places have it for under $100 new.
