Huper Optik tint installer in the Bay Area!
I found the first Huper Optik tint installer in the Bay Area! I was wondering if any of you were interested in this information. He charges about $500 individually with Huper Optik in the back and V-Kool for the front windows. Contact me if you are interested in this info, as we might be able to get a discount.
The best part about these two films are that they are very good at heat rejection, so the insides of your car won't get as hot in the sun. The added bonus for the Huper Optik stuff is that it won't affect radio or radar reception like other metallic tints do. V-Kool is light enough to be tint legal, so its great for all of you who would rather not be bothered by the police.
Here's are links to the manufacturer pages if you'd like to find out more for yourself:

ps. The installer used to drive an 2000 S4, but upgraded his daily driver to an S430.

I agree... That is expensive IMO
$500 for window tint is a bit insane... I don't care if it's VCOOL, UHOT, JDUB or whatever. Nearly all of the money from a tintjob is in the labor anyway, and tint is very inexpensive.
FWIW I have no problems with V1 reception, radio reception, v60 integrated antenna reception, and my car still stays very cool.
Technically no tint is legal on the front windows. Only the clear UV tint is legal for people with eye problems. Darkened tint is allowed on some exempt vehicles and people who have special provisions. But some people believe that a certain "percentage" tint is legal... and yes, that's true, but it's 87% I believe in CA and most factory windows are around there already.

I agree, its not for everyone
I agree its pricy, and its not for everyone. This is people who want the best performing tint and would rather not handicap their radar detectors. I have pretty heavy tint already myself, and the V1 SEEMS to perform fine, but this is information from valentine1's site directly:

------------------------------------------------
WARNING: V1's Radar Locator depends on the rear antenna having an unobstructed view back through the interior of your car. Metallized films on side and rear windows will confuse the Radar Locator.
================================================
BTW, there is a substantial discount if we have enough people. Thats why I'm putting this out there to see if there's still any interest since other people have asked for Bay Area Huper installers.

You should not be able to put true Huper on the rear - it just won't bend enough. You should get
the newer Huper Drei, or the older Huper ceramic on the sides, and the Huper-badged Madico that matches for the rear.
