Default Audi B6 A4 1.8T BEX Misfire Under Load

Hi all

I am having a strange issue with my A4 where under heavy load such as full throttle in 3d or 4th gear from around 2000 rpm she will start to cut out/splutter at around 3000 rpm and feels like a misfire. It is strange because if I run her on her normal stock map I cannot replicate the misfire but as soon as I run even a basic Stage 1 REVO map she misfires. Obvious causes are plugs, coil packs, leads or injectors but what gets me is she runs fine on her stock map...

Any thoughts? I have yet to run logs on her so that will be my first port of call...

Cheers
Nic

Not yet, will do so this weekend, just wanted to get input from otehrs as I found it strange that she will only misfire under load with Stage 1 software loaded but won't with stock software. I realise that boost, fuelling, timing, etc are all changed so my only guess is that the Stage 1 software merely exposes a current weakness or issue that the stock software does not...

I haven't spoken to them yet, want to do soem basic checking myself first as I am not convinced it is a software issue. I have a friend who has the same car although the sedan version and his is running 100% on the same REVO software...

Wow - That must have been great, I wasn't even born then, I am still a youngin'. Sadly my Type 2 is in a bit of a sorry state after lack of care from previous owners but myself and my friend that own it are working on that. Have a few pictures up here, a local South Africa VW forum...

Ha Ha Yeah, pretty rough around teh edges but pretty solid otherwise, a real pity she is far from original but for what we paid we can't complain...

Thanks for the offer of help And I'll definitely give feedback of teh outcome with my Audi...

So, finally got round to doing some testing as I managed to get hold of some older, fully working coil packs from a friend. Replaced coil packs on two cylinders, closest to the firewall, loaded my Stage 1 REVO map and the misfire is gone. She still pulls a bit of timing in warmer temperatures but the horrible misfire is gone...

So, new coil packs are in order, then I'll get my colder temperature range plugs in, have a new Forge TIP lying at home as well and need to get an intake and DP as well...
