Default Oil leak from a cooler?

2008 A8 4.2 BVJ engine

Looks like I have an oil leak, but I'm trying to figure out what part it is. I think it's an oil cooler? It's located just behind the belt tensioner.

Do we have 2 oil coolers? I have another cooler that has 2 inlets and 2 outlets...oil and radiator or transmission lines located at the front of the bumper on the passenger side. Maybe that's the transmission cooler?

Blue arrow is where the leak starts. Just behind the belt tensioner.

Blue arrow - oil leak. Red arrow, top of the upper oil pan gasket.

Red arrow - oil leak

just had it done on my 2006 A8L. Also had it done on my wife's old D2 98 A8. It's a bigger job on the D3. Trust me, it's not just the o-rings. Unless there is a drastic difference between 06 and 08, there are plastic tubes that allow coolant to go from the block to the oil cooler. If you read the official Audi manual on how to fix it, the first step is "remove engine" However, it can be done but it's not for the faint of heart. It cost me about $800.

Where are you located?

Looks like it's different on the fsi engines. Should just be 2 orings.

I was able to swing the radiators to the side and only unhooked the top pax side radiator hose. So I lost very little fluid.

I also found the torque engine mount to be completely torn, so I'll replace that as well

Since the bumper is off, I'm going to sand it down and repaint it. It's looking rough after 170,000 miles.

Im in S. Jersey.

Torque mount was completely split. $240 was the cheapest I found.

Fsi engine uses 2 orings for the oil cooler. What a pain that was to get to.

Sooooooo, I used standard nitrite orings from harbor freight. Buttoned it up, did a test run up, no leaks.

Just finished spraying the bumper and grill. Phantom black really sparkles in the light. I'll buff tomorrow and put it back together.

Hey bro, I know this post is old, but I see that your located in NJ. I have an 07 A8L and I'm in dire need of a good D3 mechanic. If you could provide your info or steer me in the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it...

I guarantee you that 90% of D2s and 70% of the D3s are driving around with sheared torque mounts. Those things do not last very long. The thing is that you can't really tell they are torn.
