Default Connecting a Samsung Galaxy S5

Just traded in my iPhone for the new Galaxy S5. Does anyone know if I can connect this to MMI or if I can charge it in the car without using the cigarette lighter?

I believe you can get this AMI cable that will allow you to connect it in the glovebox. Should charge and allow you to play audio.

Thanks, I wasn't aware that Audi made AMI cables for Android phones. Does this work with all Android phones? The cable that came with my Q5 fit my iPhone 4S perfectly so I just assumed only Audi only supported iPhones. Never thought about Android until I got one.

The reviews on these micro USB cables on Amazon look mixed, but I think they are selling generic versions on there. Since Android phones are often fairly different, there's a chance this won't work for playing music. Probably just have to take a chance and see.

I'll forward the link to my wife since her daily driver. Thanks again Ulmer.

Does anyone know if this will charge with the ignition/system turned off? And if it does charge with the system off, like when the vehicle is parked and locked, the charging shuts off automatically at a certain time interval to prevent excessive discharge of the Q5's battery?

Look at the Smoothtalker line of charging cradles. I have one installed in my A7 for my S4 and it works great.

$50 for a simple cable like that is just wrong. Hopefully you can find one at a discount.

I wouldn't expect the same type of control that you get with an iPhone, but I've never used one.
