Default Audi A8 2004 Adapter wiring harness for airbag

Airbag light on. Was diagnosed by dealer that passenger seat needs repair kit installed, 5K0998582. A few short wires

Question: anyone has done this and can help me locate where the wires go? Do i need to open up the passenger seat in the back, site ???

Welcome!

Al wires goes to the bottom of the seat. Check there for a yellow airbag harness. Apply some DeoxIT or similar to contacts.

It's in the archives. I was just looking at this last night (didn't apply to mine, which currently has an issue with the main bag on the steering wheel).

There are two connectors generally. One is under the seat--just look under there and you will see it (same w/ driver's seat). You are looking for a yellow connector, which the airbag ones are generally color coded. There is another one up in the seat back near the bag unit itself. There is a TSB (technical service bulletin) on this, which reviews the procedure. It deals with the connector down by the floor. That's where the issue usually is, which makes it easier to get at. The crux of it is just re-splicing those wires at the connector area.

Before you do a whole bunch though, try something simple--just unplug and then reconnect the connector under the seat. With the car turned off of course. See if that does it. Many just fiddle with the connectors or apply some anti oxidant stuff (like DeOxIt) and find that cures it.

After that you have to clear code with VCDS. It won't go off by itself.

Let's see, I can take a chance with an explosive device, or I can do it by the book. Have at it. Darwin wins.
