Road Trip TDI mileage!
I love my 2014 Q5 TDI... Heading from Santa Cruz to Huntington Beach easy always a blast! I got 34.2 mpg with relatively fast driving! I was cruising between 70-90mph with a decent amount from 75-83mph.
Road trips in the Q5 are so much fun! The TDI power and mileage is simply amazing.
I ended up starting the trip by dropping a friend off at the San Jose airport and made it back home before heading on our trip. I ended up fueling up with 442 miles and 12.9 gallons consumed. I was shocked that I had slightly less than 1/2 tank left when I decided to refuel.
This mileage is unheard of from an AWD vehicle!
Totally sold on diesel!

@ex-Quattro Pete... The TDI is quite impressive as it has the power and torque to maneuver the windy mountains of route 17 (look up 17 south Santa Cruz) and you'll see the fun 26 mile mountain road from SJ to Santa Cruz! It's made for Audi's and Subarus!
We didn't ha e time for the scenic route 1 from Santa Cruz to Huntington Beach but the TDI performs well on interstate 5 with long stretches of straightaways with some inclines. The car just feels perfect and watching the mpg is fun!
I recall making the trip on one tank and got even better fuel economy but I likely was on the 101 and didn't drive 80-90 mph. I likely kept it up to 75 as the high.
All Q5's are awesome!

The smiles per gallon are just unreal. 800 mile roadtrip recently and every second was awesome. Stage 1 tune makes it a dream.

Just returned on a trip from Portland to Bend, OR through the mountain range. Drove the Q5 hard (including several long wide open stretches at 90) but mostly around 65 to 70 with AC blasting. My total trip mpg was 36.4!!!
I can't imagine on nice flat highway going 55 how high I could get the mpg. But this car begs to be driven hard!!

My new TDI (3,000 miles)went on it's first road trip this past weekend. I averaged right at 31 mpg, on the way there, with the cruise control mainly at 86 mph. On the way home we took the scenic route with miles and miles of back country roads. The cruise was set to 90 most of the time with several romps that hit 120 mph. It still got 29 mph! The car is fun.
