Hmmmmm.....there are currently a few SW# 4F0 and 4L0 units for sale. But no 4E0.

HW# is the same, might they work?

Thanks
Chris

You will need SW: 4E0 as that is for "A8", like Misha just stated the other SW versions cause "All menus are different and dimmed. It doesn't support MMI screen retraction"

As the A8 is the only one with retractable MMI screen it would not open of close, I could also see now that maybe Air suspension might not even show up on screen....

Default Did you check the Head Unit cables

Before you change anything, I had the problem before with the MMI, dead, remove the CD changer, you can see the metal box behind it, try to remove or plug back in all the cablesptical and power.

I don't believe the box just die that easily.
If you have to get another box, get the "A" so in case you want to add the camera or watching TV, it's doable.
My wife actually enjoy TV watching while moving like snail in heavy traffic.

Cheers,

Louis

I just plugged in the used MMI control unit I purchased and SHE'S ON!

Thanks VERY MUCH to all who posted and helped me with this!!!!

For all who have a similar Optical Bus Diagnostic in the future, just replace that Control Module and move on (I hope)

I'll run it through its paces and get back with any questions.

Default VCDS scan normally tells the devices problem

"07-Control Head......ERROR......ERROR "

Just like Johnny said... hardware and bus failed.

I'm glad you found the real problem.

Question? Any Component Protection Error?

Cheers,

Louis

Did you have it replaced at the dealer ship or you did it yourself? I thought all Head Unit throw Component Protection of some kind? The Myth is proven WRONG?

Cheers,

Louis

"phone not activated. Please visit your Audi dealership"

Anyway around that one with the VAG tool?
