Project 95.5-2005.5 S6 upgrade- Audi Nav+ into a C4

Very nice...
I was tempted to try that as well, but ended up taking the lazy way out and getting a PDA with nav software.
Hey, that spot under the mirror switch would be a great place for a switch, maybe for a TDS-1 or somethin'...
If I was overhauling my console like that I'd add a switch panel there at the bottom. I'm out of space in the switch panel above the radio and still need to add ABS off, diff speed override, fan speed override, and some other stuff I forget.

Graphical display is nice though. The map panning is pretty useful...
Also those TrafficPros don't seem to be sold here anymore, so the maps and POI database may be out of date relative to other solutions. (The POI thing is surprisingly useful...)
Plus having a PocketPC opens up a lot of other applications for it.
OTOH, I can't believe how buggy this software is. The Nav software has crashed twice so far, right in the middle of a route (ended up missing a turn and having to backtrack once). And Windows Mobile 5.0... man. Beta-quality at best.

Maybe, but let me get this one completely sorted first ;-)
I found some longer screws yesterday so the climate control head is now securely mounted, and I can start making up the fill panels.

Map panning doesn't really work on RNS-D, the Navi+ is probably the least powerful
GPS system you've ever seen, only one notch higher than the original Audi GPS (stalk-control, text display in the instrument cluster)
RNS-E is easier because it has scrolling buttons but still nowhere near as easy to use as most other touch-screen GPS systems.
IMO : I'm too busy driving to look at a map and it's really the voice guidance that is critical.
Last Becker <a href="http://www.waycoolinc.com/z3/01/081501/newsoftware.html">map update was 2005</a> - that's more recent than the latest maps I can get for the Navi+. You can get used units for ~$400 on eBay, or buy direct from Becker for <a href="http://www.hktrafficpro.com/default.asp">about $850 here</a> or buy Ford TrafficPro2 <a href="http://www.trafficpro2.com/buy.asp">directly</a>
