Default Curb Rash

Hey Guys,
I have a 2010 S4 with 19" summer rims and 18" snow rims.
Living in Chicago, much to my regret I have built up some minor curb rash on 2 of my rims.
The rash seems superficial enough and is only on the lip of the rim near where the tire seats but extends around for 3 cm on one and 7 cm on the other.
I've often seen the guys on WheelerDealers take rims in to be "refurbished" and they seem amazed at what some places can do.
Does anyone have any real world experience with trying to get curb rash refurbed or buffed out of OEM wheels?
Any recommendations on places in the MidWest around Chicago or Indianapolis that does to good job?
Thanks

I've had more than just curb rash - I gouged the wheel, had it repaired and it came out great - can't tell where the work was done. A good wheel repair guy can make most wheel damage look like new - curb rash is a piece of cake for someone skilled. Figure about $100-150 per wheel depending on location and the extent of the damage. I had mine done right at the dealer when I was in for service by a guy that comes in once per week. Note that repairing a bent wheel is a different kettle of fish and requires a shop with a wheel straightening jig. Been there, done that too. Some wheel repair shops can do both.

Try these guys. They do repairs for dealers but some of them will come to your house and do the repair on site. They did a fantastic job on two of my rims . http://www.awrswheelrepair.com

Their video shows them grinding and painting the wheel while the tire is still mounted. I wouldn't personally use these guys if they paid me.

I have used Alloy Wheel Repair Specialist (link above) with a couple previous cars and the rims turned out perfect. They have a location in Barrington and also do mobile repair.

I am not sure how it would turn out on our Audi rims though as they painted (I think it's called hyper silver).

Good luck!
