Default Heated Steering wheel

Is it possible to add a heated steering wheel to a 2016 Q5? I believe the A6 is available with it and the wheel looks similar so hopefully the airbag wouldn't need to be replaced (although the 3 spoke looks much better ). Would it be plug and play or would there be programing as well?

The Q5 is based on the B8 platform (A4). No heated steering wheel for this group. So I say no. I remember a past discussion. But anything is possible.

You are correct.

I did extensive research into this and unfortunately it isn't possible via the OEM route. Many people are mislead that it can be done because there is a box that can be ticked for heated steering wheel in VCDS. This is just a labeling error by Ross-Tech. If you tick the box and attempt to save it, you will get a coding rejected error.

Even if the software was to support it in one of the B8 clock springs, the clock spring does not have the necessary Y-Shaped 2-pin connector on its front face for the heating element to plug into.

I even went a step further to think that a clock spring control module could be swapped on over the a 4G chassis on over to the Q5 and then coded as such, but the problem there now lies with the steering wheel multifunction buttons. The two top buttons on the A6/A7/A8 steering wheel are actually two buttons on one. One side has a right/left option and the other is iNav and voice. The B8 chassis steering wheel buttons are single buttons, one side being Menu and the other being voice. These buttons are interpreted by the our instrument clusters for the driver information display (DIS). If we swapped in one of the A6/A7/A8 wheels into our cars, our instrument clusters wouldn't be able to interpret the button signals.
