Default six speed swap project

I must say the six speed dwarfs the tip in terms of driving satisfaction (right now 6spders are saying "duh" and tippers are saying "psh. it's not THAT great").

Here are some photos.

Sick work man! Impressive. I need to get a ride in your and Derek's cars to get a taste of what mine is going to be like, I'm getting antsy! You've got all the pics and info, you could make a pretty sick and invaluable DIY.

Thanks

He and I got on the freeway, seems we are pretty evenly matched.

Differences:

1. My ICs are AWEs, derek is, for the moment, still running stock ICs. He had trouble with his FMIC piping fitment so he ordered some different piping.

2. My car has rs4 intake cams and phenolic intake manifold spacers. Small gain from these, but IMO noticeable. In high gear it seemed like I gradually pulled on him.

3. His car is silver, and mine is santorin. No contest here. lol

4. His has 150k miles, mine has 127. This is totally irrelevant, as I'm running out of things to list.

5. His didn't used to be tiptronic? Ugh.

They're pretty damn fast, though. Fun stuff, worth all the effort.

oh 6. He will be installing water/meth injection soon. And probably nitrous injection soon thereafter. Double threat.

I'm probably going to do the water/meth when it gets hot here, but I won't go the nitrous route. I don't want to take an already abused engine and throw gasoline on it. So to (mis)speak.

Thanks for the 6spd swap pics!
What are the chances of a writeup?

I don't want to post in the public forum because of the "SELL IT AND BUY A 6spd!!!" people, because my 2000 A6 has 30,000mi and all stage3 work done already, I don't want to give up this meticulously maintained example of a 2.7T.

Also, Is the 6psd THAT much lighter than the tip? On paper the tip shows to be 160lbs heavier than a 6spd (overall car), is all that weight in the trans alone?
