Default Taking to Dealer for 75k Service - What to Expect?

'04 S4/Auto, about 75k miles.

Car was generally serviced until I received the car at 65k miles. I would like to take the car to dealer to have whatever service/filter swaps/fluids, etc. get done around the 75k mark. Can anyone clue me in as to what to expect them to want to do, and ballpark what I might expect to pay for this service (NY)? I do understand that there are some things that may come up that may need to be changed that I won't know about until they inspect around. Thanks.

Typically, the service is not that much, $300 or $400 so. My experience with my Benz (I do all my own maintenance on the A4) is they change oil / filter, coolant, and plugs. They may also recommend tranny fluid and brakes. All good things. And then there is the timing belt, although I don't know if the 4.2 V8 has a timing belt or chain. If it has a belt, I would replace; that is expensive, at least $1500 at the dealer. It is what they "find" and recommend fixing that can get expensive, some of which can be let go. Whatever they recommend, I would ask them to take you to the car and show you what is wrong and then use your judgment or post here for other folks opinions.

Thanks for that reply. You are correct to question the belt; the 4.2 V8 in the B6 S4 has chain, not belt .

Thanks for the feedback on the chain. I wish Audi would go to chains on all their cars...

What to expect? LOL ... expect to give up your first born, or an arm. It will be expensive as hell but well worth it because the car shouldn't need anything til many more miles down the road.

Providing the car has suited your expectations for the last 10k miles and plan on keeping it till whenever.
Ask others here or your local Audi groups about positive service experiences and costs in your area. Get three , 75k estimates at these different locations.
Checking on how you are treated and able to talk to knowledgable staff, loaner car availability, costs and possible future long term relationship with this shop. Compare and make your decision.
Good luck
