It depends how I drive.
All highway about 24mpg
Mostly Highway and around town 20 mpg
All round town 18mpg
Driving it really hard 15 mpg

i get about 460 miles... 29.5mpg highway w/ quattro.... 21mpg city
I usually get about 440-490 from one tank, depending on where i'm driving....
I've been consistently getting 29-31 mpg on the interstate (average speed of 69mph), and about 20-23 in the city...
Best I ever did was 33mpg, average speed of 66mph.

Terrible......
I'm embarrassed to say......300 miles and almost all highway. House-to-work is 20 miles one way and that's the majority of the driving I do. Avg. 70-80mph. I'm averaging 18.3 mpg based on the LCD readout.
A6 Avant 2.8Q Tip.....Anything I should be checking for/changing to improve my mileage??????

I don't pay attention to miles per tank, but...
a few months ago I double checked the trip display vs. actual calculation (miles/gallons). The average MPG on the trip was correct 19.9 or 20.0 MPG every time, 100% city driving.
Anxious to get it back out on the highway in a few weeks to see about those figures ndjano posted below...riiight.

I get about 27 highway, and 19 city. but then again I have 200K miles on mine. by the way, what is everyone's mileage on their 30v 2.8's up to about now?

i think alot of it has to do with using the cruise control all the time on the highway... use your cruise next time, and keep your foot out of it... and you'll get 29mpg easy...
I run about 170 miles of I70 every 2 weeks... and I get at least 29mpg every time with my cruise on 69mph for the whole trip. Keep a constant speed, and you'll be surprised. I'm sure your Avant is slightly heavier, but you should still do rather well.

followup...post 1500 mile road trip
90+% hiway driving with the cruise, air conditioning on maybe 30% of the time. Denver to Topeka & back with a round trip to both KC & Junction City in between.
Total trip average MPG was 23.2 MPG. Average hiway speed was 80 in CO or 75 in KS.
