Yep, not even a good idea to run the tank low let alone empty. The fuel pump needs fuel for cooling. You can cavitate (momentarily running it dry) the pump by running low. Doing this regularly is not a good idea. Replacing a fuel pump is inconvenient and expensive.

Energy is still cheap - one has to factor in inflation too

"Not that there's anything wrong with that" you understand. Talking about gas prices; in 1965 when I was awarded my Driver's License, regular gasoline was something like 34 cents a gallon, and some fella with a bow tie pumped it for you, checked the oil, tire pressures, washed the windshield and likely gave you a bunch of stamps to put in a book to get some kind of merchandise.

Actually, being 16 years old kinda sucked.
I used to sort out my M&M peanut colors in meetings and eat the ones with the most first...

yeah, our receptionist had a never-ending bowl at the front lobby area. There was a conference room immediately adjacent to it that we used often so I "had" to walk right past that bowl.

I don't work in that office anymore, but continued to enjoy peanut M&Ms, a bit to excess... So one day I cold turkey stopped. Thing is, I still probably have 6+ full bags (pound size) in my desk drawer...

Last I checked, Mark is a grown man, makes and spends his "OWN" money. If he wants to run his car dry and ultimately help someone that may accidently run their car dry, then I'm sure this will come in handy when Someone googles it. Thanks for the graphs and thorough write ups.

I would like it if Mark would spend his "OWN" money on buying me peanut M&Ms.

LOL, here's what's in my office drawer - I got some good deals after the holidays and "squirrel'd" them away:
