Default Lots of cranking - 16725 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) P0341 - 35-00 - Implausible

Car (2005 Beetle 1.8T) takes several cranks before it starts.

It DOES promptly start after codes are erased.

Could 'implausible signal' of the cam sensor be causing it? Changed cam sensor, no change. Unplug cam sensor, and codes goes to 'open circuit'.

Only need to get rid of the starting issues, otherwise car drives fine. Student car, cannot afford spending big $$$ on tune outs.

Other codes (from deletes that have not been tuned out):

17834 - EVAP Purge Valve (N80) P1426 - 35-00 - Open Circuit (N80 deleted)

16426 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor B1 S3: Heating Circuit P0042 - 35-00 - Malfunction /Open Circuit (rear O2 deleted)

16420 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor B1 S2: Heating Circuit 0036 - 35-00 - Malfunction / Open Circuit (rear O2 deleted)

17840 - Secondary Air Injection Solenoid Valve (N112) P1432 - 35-00 - Open Circuit (N112 deleted)

16417 - Turbocharger Bypass Valve Control Circuit P0033 - 35-00 - Malfunction / Open Circuit (N249 deleted)

16725 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) P0341 - 35-00 - Implausible Signal ??? timing off?

18693 - Boost Pressure Control Valve (N249) P2261 - 35-10 - Mechanical Malfunction - Intermittent (N249 deleted)

16618 - Boost Pressure Regulation P0234 - 35-00 - Limit Exceeded (Overboost Condition) Not sure why overboosting. N75 is working. My be tune to tight actual vs requested boost. I could loosen wastegate a bit.

Why delete N249? Sure it can be done but it takes some knowledge to do it properly along with increased boost and no codes. Being a student car then why try turning it into a race car with high boost?

N249 and N75 work together to manage stock boost. Get N249 working and the N75 code will likely go away and boost will be normal again.

After stabilizing boost then you can chase the implausible signal of the cam position sensor. Inspect for cracks in the sensor wire harness. It is possible deteriorating wire insulation is causing intermittent signal high or low if it touches power or ground and creates this code.
