New Ride And Goodbye To An Old Friend...
After 10.5 years as a daily driver and a 13.5 year life
it was time to part with my 2000 A6 4.2.
It was starting to cost too much to keep going and the dash
had more lights on than my Christmas tree no matter how much
I fixed it.
So I was sorry to say goodbye... but got a pretty nice new ride.
2010 3.0T, 40K miles, with sport suspension that is an absolute
dream to drive on country roads and soft enough elsewhere.
Here is a picture of the old friend and the new friend.
Love the 3.0T engine and suspension. Steering is a little vague,
this is not a Porsche steering... Still, I love the car, its handling
and how it sits on the 19". And it is QUICK!!!
Only issue after two days is that the head rest sits too far forward,
any ideas on how to deal with this?
Thanks.

Congrats on the new ride! Excellent choice; silver / black is my favorite color combo.
That 3.0T is a great engine, runs really strong. You can do a simple tune and run faster than my 5.2 V10.
Enjoy it in good health!

I drive a lot on country roads and the ride is absolutely spectacular.
At low speed the car is soft mannered, at higher speed in cornering it really
comes alive. It's like it has two personalities. It grabs like nothing else
this size, great suspension set up.
The ride is quite plush for a sport suspension. Much more luxury feeling
than my Porsche but it corners just as well. Steering is much worse than
the Porsche, much less direct. It's AUDI steering.
Otherwise I can't find fault with the dynamics of this car. Love it.
The tires help, Pirelli P Zeros, which are some of the best high performance tires you can have in my opinion.
Of course if you hit a pothole head on you will feel it... But, I wouldn't have it any other way...

Thanks! Yes, those are the same 19" they have on the S4.

I had the P Zeros back in the day and they were a great performer for their time. However, several tires have passed them and you will see in the linked survey that they are now a mid pack performer. The Michelin Pilot Super Sport are the current benchmark. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey...ay.jsp?type=MP

Nice, you're like me and snapped pics in the dealer lot I assume? I bought my wife a new car last Feb and she thought I was crazy getting pics of the car in the showroom with her and her salesman. Whatever, she will look back one day and laugh. Maybe.

congrats! looks awesome! we love pics so keep em coming
enjoy the sport suspension.. its pretty awesome and rare.
i dont hate black but damm i miss silver
i think i will end up back in a silver car next BUT will try like heck to make it one w a black headliner
not that it matters and sorry to be picky but just FIY the ET / offset on those wheels should be 48 where B8s are 43 ... i know ..minor
as far as tires
ive had most time in the OEM AS Continental ContiProContact 245 40 18 and i really like them alot
1n 19s... ive had alot of time w OEM summer Dunlop SportMaxx GT 255 35 19 and i gotta say i really like them too ( but i did notice that they r better w more tread and less enjoyable at lower treads )
ive had a set of summer OEM Pirelli P-Zeros 255 35 19 but i quickly noticed i preferred the Dunlops.. i found the Pireelis tramlining
i think my winter AS will remain contis but eventually may trying out ContiSportContacts or Micheline Super Sports .. the SS especially if i have extra $ in my pocket at the time
