Driveshaft issue or differential seal?
I replaced the driveshaft some 5000 miles ago. Now I noticed this streak of fluid from where the shaft meets the rear diff. Is this an easy seal to replace?

That is grease coming out of the CV joint. If it was the trans output shaft seal the leak would be about 3" forward and be red fluid. I wouldn't worry about that.

Yep, ripped CV boot and joint grease spewing. Agreed it won't be a problem right away, but eventually the joint could lose more grease then start taking on water, dirt, salt, etc....you'll know it when it happens...an otherwise unexplained vibration, pulsing grind or the like.
I believe I remember a member here ("audinutt") actually finding a replacement boot somewhere (not listed or available in ETKA) and installing it...maybe a new CV too(?). Not a fun job, but once the drive shaft is out, the joint comes off easily after removing the inner c-ring that holds it on the shaft...it's a sliding CV like the rear inner joints, but not the same part I don't believe...not sure on that.

Just to clarify

Thank you all for this help.
I am looking at this and trying to figure it out. Did my new driveshaft just not have this boot on or can you not see the boot?
Looks like a Pinion Seal (#14) to me but then is that the boot that is near it with no item number?
Maybe I just need to see a picture of this boot and I will understand it better.
