Something you should know, if you buy a MMI CH from Europe removed from a European model then you will have to flash the module to USA specs, also you may or may not need to go to the dealer for component protection removal of said module, I have purchased 2 from Europe and neither one required "CP" removal, I just installed and flashed with latest US MMI Version, now I have also installed 2 units that were US models and 1 of them did go into component protection mode ie "no sound", that will cost $130.00 +/- at the dealer to be removed, also note that even though the 2 units where US models they still had to be flashed to the latest USA MMI Version 4610 because they had much earlier versions.

Great,
here is one in NC for $200 but it is from a S5 and has camera/ TV input.

Misha,

Did we ever conclude that because HW numbers were the same and that the units would be flashed to say A8 MMI version 4610 that it then changed the software in said MMI CH, I for the life of me today cannot remember, I know I used Q7 and or 8TO parts for my RVC retrofit and all works just as it was in an A8.

One more thing, say he buys this one for $200 with the green FBAS input and does not use said input, will that cause a problem ?

Are other units swapable if I can't find mine?

Looks like there are plenty 4E0 035 729'S around

But my second number, 4e0 910 731 b 119 seems a little more difficult to locate.

Yes, but be sure to get the correct HW: number

as the first number is the hardware number "HW" and the second is the software number "SW".

as in HW: 4E0 035 729 no camera, HW: 4E0 035 729 A with camera
SW: 4E0 910 730 G 2005 A8, SW: 4E0 910 731 B 2006 A8

As to what Misha just stated, I say stay with a "4E0" software version, as 4E0 is for A8, 8T0 is for A4-A5, 4L0 is for Q7, and so on, as I stated below it worked for me on other modules, but the MMI CH is the brain....

I have in my 05 A8L W12 replaced the mmi ch with a newer one including the FBAS green input, I also retrofitted a RVC setup from a Q7 into my A8L, and I installed a TV tuner from a newer A8 from Europe, and also a can-bus from a Q7, all these unit have no idea they are sitting in an A8.

No. A5/S5 unit flashed with the newest software still stays A4/S5 unit and doesn't work properly with A8. I believe that EEPROM containing that initial information has to be flashed first, but I haven't tried that yet (I will). I also believe that Polish company is doing exactly that (including CP removal) but I newer tried it.

F-bas presence is not problem if there is no connection to it. I had it installed before the rest of camera retrofit and it worked just fine.

So this below won't work, what exactly did not function properly on the A8 with a Software version "8T0" MMI CH ?

All menus are different and dimmed. It doesn't support MMI screen retraction, but that is not crucial.

P.S. I think that one won't work with A8.
