Default LED lights on every car

Slightly off topic, but I would just like to say I hate how every friggin car manufacturer is putting the daytime running LED lights on their cars. The worst part about it is the execution / design of 99% of them is just terrible. I feel that it cheapens what Audi has done.

Rant over.

The LED on the Acura is not too bad and they are bright at night.

If Audi stuck to a core led light design, the effect would be minimal. Some argue that the E39 BMW 5-series halo lights were the first led implementation. I'd say the R8 and A5 were the first to market but it's hardly recognizable anymore. The BMW Z8 used neon for the side and turn signals and that never caught on. Audi was just in the right game at the right time. But you overlook other things like quattro and wifi, which were also first for production cars. DSG in the TT as well if I am correct (after the Veyron, obviously). Are there any other "Audi First" innovations that are lost in the crowd?

I'm just glad Bieber didn't make the news today in an Audi. Sort of. Well, technically... he did. But copy cat douches won't know or understand.

I think most of the LED lights on other cars make our Audis look even better by comparison for exactly the reason you mention. They are so poorly done by comparison. Then again, some of the LED lights on certain Audi models look terrible. For example, the Q7.

Even Volkswagon's LED light implementation looks awful. (i.e. the V6 CC)

The only other cars on the market that I have seen with good looking LED lights are:

New MB E class (those look pretty sick)
New Jeep Cherokee (not bad all, pretty tough looking)

The best LED light implementation is the A6/S6, hands down. The contours of the LED layout are sexy as hell. Rear lights are sexy, too.

I saw the LEDs for the first time at night and my initial thought was a kid in a modded Jap car. Of course I don't have them so I am somewhat jealous but the copycats have ruined it for me. Honestly, I think Audi should start to move away from them or tame down the design so they don't look so mainstream/fast & furious aftermarket.

I agree. I think everyone else has ran to the designers and said put LED's in the headlights and now we see the results. Secondary thoughts to the design. AUdi LED's are thoughtful. Every car has their own design LED. In fact I could look at just the LED pattern in the dark and tell you the car. At this point even the generation as they are changing. The Q5 has a redesign on its LED from the eyebrow to the square. I don't see anything wrong with the q7, but GMC copied it almost exactly. I am sure the redesign in 2015 will be different. The hardest one to tell the difference in is the A6 and A7, but there is a difference.

I don't know if it's the CL or CLS but one of the late model Mercedes has the most ridiculous LED implementation with two horizontal rows and a vertical set. Way overboard and I agree tha some of the American brands just looked tacked on at the last minute to keep up with some supposed fad.

I love the LED design of the 2012+ A6 and A7.
However, I think for the A4 and A5, the older designs were better.
I just don't like how they changed the LEDs for the A4 and A5 to almost wrap around the whole contour.

Agree. Audi's DRL LEDs were the first implementation over multiple models within a brand.
