Radiator/Auxiliary Fan
Last night I pulled into my garage from a 1hr commute home from work and as soon as I shut the engine off I could smell something really bad coming from the car. Freaked me out. It was a burning smell like my car was on fire. I noticed a semi loud sound from the engine and it turned out to be the fans running. I immediately opened the hood and looked in the engine bay and confirmed it to be the fans and a lot of heat radiating from the engine. I decided to pop off the plastic cover and found the turbo assembly was very hot with creaking and cracking sounds. The fans continued to run for about ten minutes. I kept an eye on it while looking up any info about the fans in the manual. Sure enough, page 236 states the fans will run for ten minutes if the engine temp is high enough. This if the first time this has happened, just turned 3000 miles. I also noticed the protective heat shielding around the turbo assembly so I think this will be a normal phenomenon. Please chime in if any of you have had this happen to your car.

I just experience overheating on my 2012 car with 33500 miles on it. Kept getting a coolant is overheating and fans would keep running. Took it in to dealership a few days ago and they replaced the thermostat and refilled coolant. Problem gone.
