I have looked at the Audi own website explpaining savings by using Diesel

I have tried to compare A6 with 3.0 diesel v. 2.0 TFSI. It gave me $20 / year saving on fuel with combined type of driving. And I will pay more for diesel model and for maintenance. Really can someone explain to me, what the is the whole fuss about.
