Two things happened to the S8.
First, AoA is the only one currently offering financing and theirs is really not that favorable. To the tune of $1000 more a month then my RS6 which is only 7k less in price. I am going to wait and see what other banks are offering once they come on line. Also 06 allocation is sold out so I have to wait until next year anyway.
We picked up our current S8 5 months old 7500 miles and 20k under MSRP. So the B3 might be the same, although I doubt it.

I the car is superior in all areas with the exception of power... but then I am comparing a
stage 3+ B5 S4 to a 2.0T. But I think with the proper upgrades the car will be very quick.
I can't wait for the Ohlins and Alcons... I just know this chassis is going to take very well to the changes.
