Power Steering leaks
The issues with the power steering can be described as "you constantly have to add the power steering fluid". It usually leaks from one of the following places:
1. The return hose on the PS fluid tank - disconect hose, replace clamp with nice one, reconect hose. Easy and cheap to fix.
2. high preasure hose leaking. See the link bellow on how to replace it.
3. PS rack leaking. This is the worst. The rack is expencive and only few places will replace it.
In case #2 and #3 the fluid can leak on the AT transmission and cat converter and make a lot of smell.

replacing high preasure hose

Power Steering leaks: adding fluid
IMPORTANT: there is great confussion about the fluids. The PS tank states (Mineral Fluid Only G00 2000). Originaly G00 2000 was Pentosyn 7.1. But then it was replaced with synthetic Pentosyn 11s. The second one has the same Audi id: G002000, but different VW: G002012. It also called "red cup". Both mineral and synthetic fluids have similar greenish color. You should not mix them up. AND DO NOT ADD ANY OTHER FLUID OR ADDITIVE!!!
The general idea is: if you still drive mineral - you might want to replace it, beceuse it is old. You will most lickely replace it with synthetic. It requires flushing. And after it you can add only synthetic. Do not add mineral fluid to synthetic.
The good side: some leaks might disapear if you will flush system and put fresh synthetic fluid.
