I can't see how it would, unless you want to get: technical: what I mean is this scenario - you're driving along in cruise control, you hit a bump on the highway, and your defective/improperly installed brake switch is triggered - this will disengage cruise control the same way that stepping on the brake will, and you find yourself coasting down, closed throttle! So I guess, yeah, in that way, it makes you "lose" power, but I suspect that's not what you meant! I don't know what it costs since I had a couple replaced under warranty, though I suspect it can't be expensive. Labor, I'm not so sure if they need to drop the lower dash or not.
