Default How to easily test you DV while installed or removed from the car

removed:

push the piston from the bottom up and hold then put one finger on vacuum nipple to seal it. Remove your finger that is pushing the piston up:

If the piston returned to it's original position, it's bad.

If the piston hold it's position while your finger is on the vac nipple, it's good

installed:

apply vacuum with a vacuum gun to the hose going towards the intake manifold and see if it holds the vacuum; if not the DV or the hoses are bad

If you do not have a vacuum gun then:

be old school and suck on the hose going to the dv. if you can suck on the hose without getting the thing stuck on your tongue the valve is bad.
