Default NEED HELP! Suspension settings/menu

Guys,

I have a 2006 A8L. I have been looking all over these forums for my answer but can't seem to find it. My A8 does not have the sport package so I know that it doesn't have adaptive suspension. Does it still have air suspension and am I still able to select the different modes of suspension like lift, dynamic, etc.? I know adaptive suspension changes on the fly, but can can I still select my mode of suspension without adaptive suspension? I ask this because when I push my "CAR" button, I cant get to that menu. Thanks

Welcome to AudiWorld.

You should have air suspension even if you don't have the sport package.
In the car menu you should see Dynamic, Normal, and Lift.
Selecting each of those will change the ride height through the air suspension.

The sport package has an additional option.

Even without the sport option, the car will lower into Dynamic if it detects you are over 72MPH for a certain period of time.
[Someone correct me if my memory is bad here]

If you can't get to the menu, e.g. it is grayed out, there may be a problem with the suspension systems.
Do you have any error lights or a car symbol with an arrow lit up on the dash ?

A scan with VCDS will let you know what problems exist

No, I have nothing lit up. The menu does not come up at all. The only options I get is to change things like central locking, etc.

When I push the car button, I get these options:

Battery Level
Central Locking
Exterior Lighting
Instrument Cluster
Vehicle ID number
Windows
Windshield wipers

Thats it

Welcome!

You didn't say where are you and what engine you have. If it is North American 4.2 or W12 you have Adaptive Suspension. It should come first when you press Car button. It could be that somebody turned it off. In that case you need VCDS to turn it back on.

I have the North American 4.2L. I'm confused because when I look at the option packages for the car in that year, it states that adaptive suspension comes with the Sport package. I have ruled out that I dont have the sport package because I dont have the paddle shifters. Even though, I have been told that you still have adjustable suspension options from the MMI menu. When I hit the CAR button I only get the options listed in my previous post and nothing else.

What would I need for VCDS? I dont have a local Audi dealer, but I'm experienced in doing things like this myself. I just need to know what equipment I need and where I can download the software. Or if an auto parts store can do it, I can take it there. Thanks

No, they can not unless they have VCDS.

And everyone here will tell you from experience that VCDS and a Bentley are must have tools.
Expensive, but pay for themselves in no time.
We all strongly recommend against cheap knockoffs on eBay.

Silly question - but have you tried pressing the Car button twice ?
Sounds like you are in the Car -> Systems/Settings menu

Maybe someone has one that I can rent from them and then send back when I'm done?
