I just replaced my thermostat, because my AEB would bounce around in the lower half of the coolant guage. Temps went to half way and hung there, until that is I was doing about 80-90 mph on the highway afew days later. It was about 40F out, and once I slowed down to about 60, returned to the halfway mark. Searched and found one other guyhttp://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/po...ex.htm?t=65007 with a similar problem, but no one ever said the solution. I haven't noticed whether its speed or rpm related. Is the high speed somehow pushing the water past the thermostat, or defective thermostat? I ordered a new coolant temp sensor to see if that helps, I guess I shouldn't drive past 80. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Speed is pushing cool air through your engine and keeping it cool, just like an air cooled motorcycle. If you just replaced your thermostat, your water pump my be on it's way out. Are you losing coolant?

I've only owned the car for a month, but I don't think I'm losing coolant. That being said, the prev owner added the green stuff. I flushed it FOUR times to get it to run clear, and refilled with G-05.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. I drained it,filled it with distilled, ran it until warm, drained it and so on. Installed a new thermostat. Finally filled it with Zerex G-05.

I was also able this evening to get it drop at high RPMs(above 4000), not just speed, until the oil temp got up to just above 200F, then the coolant temp would barely fluctuate. Would high RPMs, running the water pump faster, force coolant by the thermostat? I have no visible leaks.
