Default The $90,000 cars - RS5, M5, GTR

If you were to spend $90,000 in a few weeks or months .. what would you choose:

2012 Audi RS5 = 0-60mph at 3.9-4.0 seconds
2012 BMW M5 = 0-60mph at 4.2-4.4 seconds
2012 Nissan GTR = 0-60mph at 2.9-3.0 seconds

Well, first of all I don't have 90,000 to spend on a car but if I did it would be on the RS5.
BMW, everyone has it. I know of 4 right now in my area and I like something a little more exclusive.
The Nissan is fast and exclusive but it looks like it is a kit car that as had added after market parts too it.

All in the eyes of the beholder.

My first choice would be the M5. With 560 hp, that car is bound to be a beast. Plus, I always had a soft spot for the M5 (the original M car, if you don't count the extremely limited production 3.0CSL and M1). RS5 would be my second choice. GTR would be a very distant third. I can't think of a single thing I like about that car other than its quickness.

You have four 2012 M5s in your area already? You must have a lot of BMW test drivers living in your neighbourhood

Great choices, there. I voted for the GTR, but it would be a tough decision between that and the RS5.

However, if I decided to drop $90K on a car, I think I'd keep my S5 as a daily driver and go for a used Ferrari. It's always been a goal of mine to have a Ferrari in my garage some day.

Right now, used 360's are in that price range.

Sorry, I meant BMWs as a model on my street. Though I do think one has a M5 early 2000.

My choice between those three specific cars is easy-- the GTR by a mile. Why? Well, it's the fastest (which is what those cars are really all about) and it's the only one that doesn't have a "lower" model that looks a lot like it. Both the M5 and RS5 look too much like their base models. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but if I'm spending $90K on a car, I don't want it to look like a base model that costs half the amount.

Quite honestly, I'd never buy any of those cars because they really don't interest me. I guess I just don't have that kind of need for speed.

I suppose the GTR is really appealing to those who track their cars on the racetrack during weekends. 2.9 - 3.0 seconds is almost overkill on normal roads.

If you have a car that runs 4.0 - 4.8 seconds for a daily driver, that's enough for most people.
