Default New Trunk Hinges

I'm having new trunk hinges installed on my 2004 A8L next week. They had to special order them in. It is covered under warranty.

Anyone else have this done? It's due to auto open close not working properly.

I thought someone posted ( was it greenie? )it wasn't the hinges, unless they somehow got out of whack, that causes the problem but the motor itself.

Good luck in any case.

Default Well, It's all under warranty so I guess I don't care!

It's their dime. Why would they spend the time replacing hinges if it's the motor?

Default Of course when the tech installs the new hinges and it solves the problem

it's a mute point. I was just trying to bring it to your attention again. I guess you could mention the motor or other electronic components as the possible problem to the service writer but they must know what they are doing and have already looked at it in a prior visit and know exactly what the problem is.......ya right!

Default just got mine done. The verdict is still out on whether or not

it is successful. Not enough data yet, but it has failed to open at least once since I got it back. Its an improvement, but not a complete fix.

Default Is this a pre-emptive action?

I've not had any problems with my trunk closing, just 2-3 times with it opening on its own.

Default finally had the motor replaced, which did the trick.

Under warranty.
