Default while this sux, perhaps you can help the rest of us..

who have done or are doing the the TB job.
We need the manufacturer of the part that failed.

I just had mine done about 1000 miles ago. Perhaps its prudent to check the part for the manufacturer.

Default Although its nice they're going after the manufacturer, its not your problem :

The indy did this job, and are you within THEIR warranty period? Usually 12 months. So they are responsible for fixing the mess, and if they in turn want to pursue the part manufacturer that's their concern.

Default This is sad news :( hopefully all will come out covered.........and

thanks for the lead over to John. I am in the same spot as "K2" he said my tie rods are frozen. But, that my alignment is good. I have been using Rolf's for many many years on my VW's. Now they seem to be pushing strong into BMW. I have been thinking about switching to Too Qwick's. I have not had to have anything (knock on wood) done to my ar. Only oil.

Rental car. What? Just pull the hazard triangle out of the ar and put it on that 4110.

Keep us posted.

Ouch! Like many here, contemplating the 80k replacement of my TB. Might be worth the scratch to just track down a 4.2 and trade! That might be better than the $1200 to ensure 1 of the myriad things that can go wrong on this car is OK, or not in this case.

Default I have 96k and no idea is it's ever been replaced.

I can't find a replacemnt documented anywhere. Not in VAG or indy land. A couple of times a month I rev up to 7.1 to 7.3k in TIP 1st just to make sure the belt doesn't stiffen up. I've heard one of the major reasons for timing belt failure is babied aka, under reved engines. In 1st the needle goes from 4k past 7k really fast.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Did you ever see the old tension pulley?
