Default safe turbo ??'s

hello i'm new to this forum... and have a few questions if you guys can help me out that would be great.

i am in the market for a turbo upgrade for my 2000 S4 it has about 100,000 miles.. i am located in california and must use 91 octance fuel. As of now the car is completely stock, but has just had 90,000mile service, new waterpump, new timing belt etc.. on to the ??'s

i have been reading about the hybrid turbos on various forums and was wondering how reliable these really are?? would it be safe to install them on my car which has sooo many miles already?? I would obviously not like to dump a TON of money into a car that has soo many miles, but want a considerable amount of horsepower above a stage 2 level.

As i understand by getting a hybrid K03 turbo, i dont have to purchase turbo inlets, because they are a direct fit..? Can anyone list a complete setup/list of all included hardware/software i would need to run these hybrid turbos safely?

What are my other options for upgrades?? Other than AWE, APR..etc.

thank you for you help

Default Straight K04's IMHO. "I would obviously not like to dump a TON of money ".

That doesn't fit into what you're trying to do. Sorry.

Yes, K03's Hybrids work with stock inlets, but for the $500-$600 for required hardware w/ K04's is a far better decision as far as I'm concerned.

STFA's on Hybrid K03's. Quite a few issues with them.

But do they make as much power as OEM K04s? Doubt it.

Default I didn't say "All". I am stating that straight K04's have a better reputation than

K03 hybrids as far as longevity goes. That is all.

Have to also take into consideration that there are many more K04's in cars than K03's 'brids, for two very good reasons.

Default Straight K04. Dump the money for hybrids somewhere else. (more inside)

Are you the one doing the install? If not, have then installer buy the turbos for you from a supplier of your choice. You're better insulated in case something bad happens and you won't end up paying for double work. I am talking from experience.

Default Couldn't really tell you....At this point in time, I have nothing to make comparisons with.

But I don't doubt that they will reach their limitations before K04's do. What I have noticed is that my car, in it's current configuration, doesn't struggle in the upper rpm's as it did with straight K03's. Other than that...I'm in some serious need of logging, and probably some tweaking as well.

Default "But I don't doubt that they will reach their limitations before K04's do." I

couldn't disagree more with that statement.

Great advice, 2nd that. Sometimes better to pay more up front as a security blanket.
